Every Saturday, we highlight a non-teaching staff member on our Facebook and Twitter (@vcsc_teamvigo) account, turning Saturday into #Staffurday to introduce you to some of the people who make school happen!

Every year is a great year to celebrate our staff, but this year has shined a bright light on the flexibility and compassion of our incredible staff.

Today, meet Amber Weber, an educational assistant at Fayette Elementary School.

What motivates you?
Both my kids went to Fayette. I’ve always loved the atmosphere here and I enjoy getting to work here and be with the kids.

How has your job changed due to COVID?
It’s a very different feeling coming to work during remote learning and having no kids at school. You don’t realize the small things you miss without the kids at school.

What is something that people don’t understand about your job?
People don’t understand how invested you can get with the kids you spend time with everyday and how the smallest thing–whether it be a joke from a kid or just seeing something click for the first time–can make your whole day.

Why do you love VCSC/your school?
Fayette is just a good school. The staff and community are like no other!

Be sure to check back on Wednesday as we highlight another teacher for #RedforEd Wednesday! We’ll continue both campaigns through the end of the school year.
