We’re highlighting a teacher every Wednesday as a part of the #RedForEd campaign.
Every year is a great year to celebrate our teachers, but this year has shined a bright light on the flexibility and compassion of our incredible staff.
Today we’re highlighting Mr. Tyler Wampler, a physical education teacher at Hoosier Prairie and Deming Elementary Schools.
What motivates you?
There are many ways to succeed in Physical Education giving students of all backgrounds and abilities a chance to achieve their goals. Seeing students work hard to become better individuals and achieve their goals is what motivates me.
How has your job changed due to COVID?
My job has changed in many ways but wearing masks for both students and staff is the most noticeable change due to COVID. A lot of time is spent on sanitization of equipment/hands, social distancing when possible and more time spent on personal responsibility in order to keep yourself and others around us safe.
What is something that people don’t understand about your job?
I would say most people don’t understand or know that educators are preparing students to take on the world, not just the subject area we teach. Educators have to wear many different hats on a daily basis to ensure student success in their content area as well as helping them mature and develop emotionally.
Why do you love VCSC/your school?
One main reason I am passionate about working in the VCSC is that I was born and raised in this community! I had so many great teachers and coaches to help guide and mold me into the person I am today. I am now fortunate to work with tremendous educators and administrators. Their dedication to helping students and each other is what I love about my schools.
Be sure to check back on #Staffurday–Saturday, that is–as we recognize members of our non-teaching staff. We’ll continue both campaigns through the end of the school year.
