Starting today, we’re going to highlight a non-teaching staff member every Saturday on our Facebook and Twitter (@vcsc_teamvigo) account, turning Saturday into #Staffurday to introduce you to some of the people who make school happen!
Every year is a great year to celebrate our staff, but this year has shined a bright light on the flexibility and compassion of our incredible staff.
We’re starting with Jonathan Mullins, a custodian at Deming Elementary School.
What motivates you?
In short family, laughter, and food. What motivates me at work? I was told once that our smile may be the only smile these kids get all day. So I try to make that happen, keep on smiling.
How has your job changed due to COVID?
As a day shift custodian there has been a great push to keep surfaces cleaned as students move through our building. Keeping up on sanitization has been the focus.
What is something that people don’t understand about your job?
As custodians, we are a small piece of what makes this school run. We all have super powers. LOL.
Why do you love VCSC/your school?
The kids at Deming Elementary have some of the biggest hearts. The working environment here at Deming Elementary is friendly and supportive.
Be sure to check back on Wednesday as we highlight another teacher for #RedforEd Wednesday! We’ll continue both campaigns through the end of the school year.
