About

The Vigo County School Corporation serves early learners throughout the county through daycare programs for infants to preschoolers, full day Pre-K at Deming Early Learning Center, and half day Pre-K at select Title I schools throughout the county. Full Day Pre-K

Starting August 2021, the Vigo County School Corporation offers full day Pre-K for students who are 4 by August 1. The program is housed at Deming Early Learning Center.

Times

Full day Pre-K at Deming Early Learning Center follows the Vigo County School Corporation calendar. Class starts at 8 a.m. and students are dismissed at 2:45 p.m. We are unable to provide transportation for Pre-K students.

Cost

Full day Pre-K is available for a rate of $21 per day.

Scholarships are available for students who live in a Title I district and through On My Way Pre-K.

Half Day Pre-K

The Vigo County School Corporation offers half day Pre-K for students who are 4 by August 1 at several Title I schools. The program is free to students living in Title I districts.

Deming Early Learning Center

Deming Early Learning Center will be open to students starting August 2021 at the site of the old Deming Elementary School. Deming Early Learning Center is a comprehensive Early Learning Center offering full day preschool, developmental preschool, traditional kindergarten, and daycare for children infants to 4 years old.

Full Day Pre-K

Full day Pre-K is for students who are 4 by August 1. The school day starts at 8 a.m. and students are dismissed at 2:45. Full day Pre-K is $21 per day for an all-inclusive fee, but scholarships are available for students who live in a Title I district or through On My Way Pre-K. We are unable to provide transportation for Pre-K students.

Daycare/Preschool

A full day daycare/preschool is available to the public and VCSC employees for children infant-4 years old. This program runs 7:15-4:45. Children ages infant-2 pay a fee of $40 per day and 3-4 year olds pay a fee of $30 per day. No transportation is provided for this program, and assistance may be available through On My Way Pre-K or the Child Care Development Fund

Developmental Preschool

Developmental preschool is a half day program for students approved through Covered Bridge Special Education District. There is no cost to students and bus transportation is available.

Classroom Information
Transitional Kindergarten

Transitional Kindergarten is for students who are 5 by August 1 who may need additional academic or social-emotional support as they start their educational journey. This program is perfect for students who may not be “ready” for Kindergarten even though they are old enough for Kindergarten, and many students may repeat Kindergarten the next year in a traditional classroom. Transitional Kindergarten classes will be provided additional support in a play-based environment. Transitional Kindergarten is free and transportation may be provided based on where the student lives.

Daycare

The Vigo County School Corporation offers daycare for infants to 4-year-olds at four sites throughout the county. Information about Deming Early Learning Center is above. Read below for Little Braves, Vikes and Tykes, and Little Racers.

Little Braves Early Learning Center

Little Braves has been in existence for 7 years. It is located in Booker T. Washington Alternative High School. Our employees, the public, and parenting teens are welcome to bring their children to this location. Our Early Childhood Education students also spend time in the 3 and 4 year old classroom to earn their Child Development credits. This program houses infants-4 year olds. They are open from 7:15-4:45.

Infants-2 year olds cost $40 per day, 3-4 cost $30 per day. This is an all inclusive fee, meaning there are no additional fees for meals or supplies. We are open 182 days in alignment with teacher workdays and the school calendar.

Vikes and Tykes Early Learning Center

Vikes and Tykes has been in existence for 20 years. It is located at West Vigo High School. Our employees and the public are welcome to bring their children to this location. Our Early Childhood Education students also spend time in the 3 and 4 year old classroom to earn their Child Development credits. This site accepts children who are 3-4 years old by August 1. 

The cost is $30 per day and is an all inclusive fee.  We are open 182 days in alignment with teacher workdays and the school calendar.

Little Racers has been in existence for 4 years. It is located at Riley Elementary School. Our employees and the public are welcome to bring their children to this location. Our Early Childhood Education students also spend time in the 3 and 4 year old classroom to earn their Child Development credits. This program accepts children who are 3 or 4 years old by August 1.
