Good, Good Evening Sarah Scott Family,

This is your principal, Scotia Brown, with your Scottie Burst for the week of January 23rd.  We kicked off last week with the start of the 6th and 7th grade girls’ basketball season, but we have a lot more in store, so let’s started with what you need to know for the upcoming week.

Yes…it’s County Week!  This week, our 8th grade boys’ and girls’ basketball teams put their skills on the line to bring home the County Championship!  And, you know how we do it, if it’s County Week, we have to show our school spirit.  We want all of our Scotties to join us as we show our Sarah Scott spirit.

Monday is “show Your School Pride-Wear Your School Colors”-orange, black and white.

Tuesday is Teacher/Twin Day -Dress alike with a student or dress alike with a teacher

Wednesday—Yippee Kayo Kiya, it’s Cowboy/Boots/Flannel Day

Thursday–Decades Day-Is your favorite decade the Roaring 20’s or maybe it’s the Sixties.  It’s time to break out the bell bottoms and the platform shoes!

Friday—It’s Pajamas Day…school appropriate…of course!

As for the games: 8th grade boys’ and girls’ basketball team start County Week on Monday in their face-off off with Woodrow Wilson.  These games will be held at Honey Creek Middle School.

If our teams are successful on Monday, they will continue their quest for the County championship, on Tuesday, in a game against Honey Creek Middle School.  Again, these games will be held at Honey Creek.  Both the Monday and Tuesday games will begin at 5:00.

After success on Tuesday, the final game for the 8th grade championship basketball games will be held at Terre Haute South High School on Thursday.  These games will begin at 6:00.  All visitors are asked to mask and to socially distance.

The 6th and 7th grade girls’ basketball teams do not have games scheduled for this week.

Friday, 6th and 7th grade basketball Teams and our Dance Team will have their team pictures taken on Friday at 3:30.

We are excited to be honoring some of our Scotties with Dog Tags!  And we are so excited! Due to COVID, we have not been able to hold our Dog Tag Ceremony for the past two years.  The Dog Tag Ceremony recognizes those students, who have gone above and beyond in doing their best, being their best, and giving their best in their classes, with their peers and representing the best of who a Scottie is!  To the parents of those students being recognized, you should have received an invitation to the ceremony, which will be held on Tuesday.  We certainly hope you can join us!

We love celebrating our Scotties, “At Sarah Scott:  Where Hope is Inspired, Talent is Trained, and Potential is Developed!”
