Scottie Burst November 19, 2023
Hello Scotties!
This is a very short week as we only have school two days before Thanksgiving Break. We have a few announcements.
On Monday, November 20, the 6th grade basketball teams will travel to Otter Creek while our 7th and 8th grade boys’ basketball teams will play here at Sarah Scott. Student section theme is “Elderly Night”. Those games begin at 5:00. Please be mindful that per school board policy, students K-8 are to be with a parent, guardian, or adult to all events.
On Tuesday night our Mayor’s character award winner for October is being recognized for Citizenship at City Hall. Our school recipient is 7th grader, Noel Raynor, who exhibits citizenship throughout each school day. If a student is struggling, he will always try to help them. If anyone is having a bad day, Noel is a ray of sunshine who tries to brighten their day. He shows empathy with peers and staff members and offers kind words of encouragement to them. Representing 6th grade for Citizenship is Eli Boyke and 8th grade recipient, Eli West. Congratulations!
7th grade students are going to see A Christmas Carol at the Indiana Repertory Theater in Indianapolis and eat at Chicago’s Pizza in December. Students have received permission slips but if you need another one, please see a 7th grade teacher. The deadline for money and slips are due December 1st.
6th grade Snow Globe Dance will be at the Boys and Girls Club on Saturday, December 2, 7-9 pm. Tickets will be available November 13-29th for $15 cash only, $20 at the door. 7th grade Peppermint Dreams will be at the Boys and Girls Club Friday, December 1, 7-9 pm. Tickets will be available 13th-29th for $15 cash only, $20 at the door. 8th grade Snowball Dance will be at Sarah Scott Middle School Friday, December 1, 7-9 pm for $10. Tickets are for sale in the main office.
As a reminder, we have Thanksgiving Break Wednesday, November 22 to Sunday, November 26. We will see you on Monday, November 27.
Let’s make it a great week at Sarah Scott where: Hope is Inspired, Talent is Trained, and Potential is Developed!
Gratitude is the inward feeling of kindness received. Thankfulness is the natural impulse to express that feeling. Thanksgiving is the following of that impulse. -Dick Van Dyke
