For the first time EVER…Terre Haute South has FIVE National Merit Scholar Semifinalists.  This is a huge deal for us and our students. If you see the following students, please congratulate them on this tremendous honor:
Arjun Bhatia
Anthony Chapman
Clara Noxon
Courtney Powell

Benjamin Spencer

The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, and includes the highest-scoring entrants on the SAT/ACT in each state.  A Semifinalist must have an outstanding academic record throughout high school, be endorsed and recommended by a high school official, write an essay, and earn SAT® or ACT® scores that confirm the student’s earlier performance on the qualifying test.

Congratulations to senior Addison Koie for writing one of the only two winning CANDLES Evening of Light essays. This semester Addison is taking Mrs. Grabowski’s Holocaust Literature elective, and she applied Holocaust survivor Eva Kor’s lesson to her life: Forgive your worst enemy – it will heal your soul and set you free.  Here are pictures of Addison’s well-deserved recognition at the CANDLES event at the Indianapolis Children’s Museum on 9/28, featuring child advocate,  Elizabeth Smart..  Way to represent Vigo County Schools, Addison!
