Congratulations to Lynae Owen who won the McDonald’s Black History Makers of Tomorrow Scholarship.  She is one of fourteen students nationwide who received this scholarship!

Congratulations to the Science Bowl Team who competed in the regional competition. The team of four finished in the top eight in the state.  The Science Bowl Team consisted of: Jeffrey Chen, Vatsal Mannepalli, Vaishant Mannepalli, and William Drummond.

Congratulations to the following future ISU Sycamores, who earned scholarships to ISU:    Presidential Scholarship- Sydni Weber,  Presidential Scholarship – Brady Wilson,  University Honors Scholarship- Aja Irish,  University Honors Scholarship- Vatsal Mannepalli, and University Honors Scholarship- Gabe Young.  The Presidential Scholarship covers room and board for all four years and is only awarded to 18 students nationwide. The University Honors Scholarship covers tuition for all four years and is only awarded to 30 students nationwide.  Great job learning Braves!
Congratulations to this year’s TEAMS (Tests of Engineering Aptitude, Mathematics, and Science) competitors! The following scores reflect these students’ performance at the state level competition.

Congratulations to the Terre Haute South Jazz Band on receiving a Gold with Distinction award at the ISSMA Jazz Festival! This is the first time the jazz band has earned this rating at that level in school history. We also want to congratulate Zander Tracy, Clara Noxon, Diarmuid Corcoran, Carter Body, Colby Ellison, Rebekah Gormong, and Walter Gordon on receiving Outstanding Soloist awards!

Congratulations to the members of the Terre Haute South Envirothon Teams! Both teams did wonderfully during the regional competition at Ivy Tech on Friday with Team 1 (Clara Noxon, John Mann, Alvina Mastakar, Eve Reid, Anna Miles, & Maddison Smithson) receiving 1st place and Team 2  (Skylar Vinzant, Samya Ward, Isis Johnson, Sophie Lubic, Darcy Kirby, & Sam Rasely) receiving 5th! T eam 1 will compete at the state competition! Congrats to all!

Congratulations Concert Orchestra – not only did they do a fabulous job playing for the Hall of Distinction Ceremony on Friday morning,  they also received a Gold Rating at ISSMA Organizational Contest on Friday evening at Northview High School. Their sight reading score was just a 1/2 point away from perfect – Great job!
Congratulations to the Terre Haute South Bands!  The Symphonic Band earned a Gold Rating in Repertoire, narrowly missing ‘With Distinction’ by 1.5 points, and a Gold Rating in Sight Reading!  The Wind Ensemble earned a Gold Rating ‘With Distinction’ in Repertoire and a Gold Rating in Sight Reading!  We are extremely proud of these kids!  Both bands played some of the hardest Repertoire that each group has played in years and they performed extremely well!
Congratulations to the Intermediate Treble Choir and Advanced Chamber Choir, who both competed at this weekend’s ISSMA District Organizational Competition and both achieved high-ranking Gold scores!

Congratulations to South’s Academic Super Bowl Teams who competed at the Regional  at Greencastle High School.  All the South teams placed in the top three of the Class 1 Division, and the English team qualified for the third consecutive year for the State Championship that will take place at Purdue on Saturday, May 10, 2025.  Please congratulate the following students for their hard work and dedication.

Congratulations to DECA International competitors from South Vigo High School.  There were over 25,000 people in attendance at this event.  It is an honor for all of the students to have even made it this far, however additionally we had 5 students recognized:
Katy Snow placed in the top 10 IN THE WORLD for her business growth plan for her own non-profit Katy’s Kids
Callista Dillion and Kate Telle received Awards of Excellence for their Integrated Marketing Campaign about Riley Dance Marathon
Jackson Stewart and Kenzi Craft received recognition in their Aspire Academy
Congratulations to South’s English team who competed at Purdue University and are IASP’s State Runners Up!  The competition was close, and these stellar students represented Vigo County so well!  Please congratulate these Irish literature rock stars:  Ella Hardwick, Kensington Heath, Sophia House, and Clara Noxon (captain)
Congratulations to the following Latin students:  Sophomore Philip Hawkins received a bronze medal on the National Latin Vocabulary Exam, a gold medal on the National Hellenic History Exam, a Summa Cum Laude Award and gold medal on the National Latin Exam.  Junior Isabella Newberry received a Magna Cum Laude Award on the National Latin Exam.  And Sophomore Samuel Rasley received a bronze medal on the National Hellenic History Exam, a Summa Cum Laude Award and gold medal but had a perfect score on the National Latin Exam!
