Meet Mrs. Olds

Hello!  My name is Meghan Olds and I am the school counselor at Hoosier Prairie Elementary School.  I am very excited about what the school year has in store and getting to know all of our Pioneers better!  When I was in high school, I realized that I wanted to be a school counselor to help children, as mine did for me.

I received my Bachelor’s of Science Degree from the University of Evansville in Psychology with a specialization in Clinical Psychology.  I worked in the social services and child welfare fields for 7 years prior to returning to graduate school to earn my Master’s Degree in Education in School Counseling at Indiana State University.

On a personal level, my husband’s name is Chris and we have been married since 2008.  We have a 13 year old son named Austin, who thinks he is 18 sometimes.  We have a 4 year old daughter named Addison, who is our wild child.  As a family, we love to visit family and friends, travel, and go to Austin’s go kart races.

As a School Counselor, my primary responsibility is to promote the academic, personal, and social development of all students.  I love offering support to our students, staff, families, and community.  I meet with students individually and in small groups, conducting classroom guidance lessons, using the Second Steps curriculum, meeting with parents, collaborating with teachers and staff, and consulting with community organizations to benefit and meet the needs of all Hoosier Prairie students and families.

At Hoosier Prairie, we have been fortunate to have one of the first certified Therapy Dogs, Charlee Jo, and she comes with me to most of my lessons.  She is an incredible benefit to students and staff!  No student is pressured to see her or pet her but she is here for them, if they need her.  She absolutely LOVES coming to Hoosier Prairie and hanging out with her Pioneers!

Any student can request to meet with me or they can be referred by a teacher, administrator, or parent.  I encourage you to reach out to me if you have concerns regarding your child.  If you would like for me to meet with your child, please do not hesitate to contact me.  I am here to help students achieve their personal, social, and academic goals, as well as provide support to parents and teachers.
