Meet Ms. Taylor
Hello, my name is Lora Taylor. I was born and raised in Vigo County and attended Vigo County School Corporation schools. I went to Pimento Elementary, Honey Creek Middle School, Terre Haute South Vigo High School, and Indiana State University. I love working with children and teaching! I was raised on a farm and have a deep love for animals.
I have been teaching at Hoosier Prairie since 1993. When I first started teaching for the VCSC, I was at Terre Town Elementary. After two years at Terre Town, I was able to relocate to my “neighborhood” of Hoosier Prairie and became the first Title/Chapter 1 Reading Teacher under the infamous Darrell Roundtree. I’ve since then taught Transition, 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th grades. My mother, Judy Pearson, was a retired teacher from Hoosier Prairie. I am currently the treasurer for the Vigo County Teachers’ Association and enjoy working with many of the finest teachers in the state of Indiana through our Association!
I have two children, Jordan and Madison. My son and daughter in law, Samantha blessed me with two granddaughters, Delaney and Freya. I love being a “Grammy”! We have horses and a pony, cows, dogs, and cats. We live on a farm in the Hoosier Prairie district. My family and I enjoy showing our American Quarter Horses, ranger riding, and boating during summer months. We are a very active family and stay quite busy!
I am looking forward to a great school year with my second grade class. I encourage parents to come spend the day with us in our classroom. I may have to put you to work though, as we could always use another pair of hands to help out. However, I promise, you will have a fun day with us!
