Meet Mrs. Rush
Hello, I’m Mrs. Duree Rush. I grew up in Valparaiso, Indiana and moved to Terre Haute to attend Indiana State University. I live in the southern part of Vigo County with my husband, Frank, and several pets. I earned my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Education from Indiana State University. My teaching career began at Valley Pre-School in Clinton, Indiana where I was head teacher for 2 years. I then joined the Vigo County School Corporation as a substitute teacher and eventually took a job teaching kindergarten at Hoosier Prairie in 1988. I have taught kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 3rd grade.
It is my goal to provide a positive learning experience for every child. My teaching style is structured but flexible, and I encourage every child to do their very best every day. Respect, honesty, determination, and kindness are expected behaviors in my classroom. Learning is active and takes place in many ways. Students work together in small groups, large groups, with me, and on their own. My hope is that each student will leave my classroom knowing that every day is a perfect day to learn something new.
