Mrs. Laurren McDermott, English Language Arts Teacher

Hello Honey Creek Students! I am so excited to be here and to get to know all of you.  In this class, you will study language arts, namely, grammar and writing instruction. These skills are essential for success in future academics and careers, and I hope that we learn a lot while we are together this year.

About me: I am essentially a Terre Haute native. I went to Dixie Bee for Kindergarten through 4th grade before moving to Brazil, IN and Paris, IL, where I graduated from Paris High School. I returned to Terre Haute in 2008 to attend Indiana State University to study English Education and have lived here ever since. The past ten years I have taught English in Clinton, IN and Paris, IL, and here at Honey Creek Middle School. In 2021, I finished my Master’s Degree in Composition and Rhetoric. I have a true passion for reading and writing, but I love TEACHING it even more. In my spare time, you might find me shopping for plants, picking vegetables from my garden, going to concerts, or trying new foods at restaurants.
