Welcome to my teacher page!

Here are a few important things you should know.  My name is Sherrie McGuirk, and this is my 9th year at Sugar Grove teaching Kindergarten. Prior to that, I taught Reading Recovery at Riley Elementary and I have over 8 years of teaching experience in other states. I have taught Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade prior to coming to Terre Haute.

As you may know, Kindergarten is not what it used to be.  Your Kindergartner will be expected to read, write sentences, count to 100 by 1, 5, and 10, recognize 2 and 3 dimensional geometric shapes, add and subtract to 10, etc… by the end of the year.  I believe together as a team we can help your child to accomplish this feat and have a wonderful school year! Please let me know if you are interested in helping out in some way. Your help is always welcome.

Communication is very important to me. Please let me know if you have any questions and or concerns. I will do my best to get back to you in a timely manner. If at any time you need to get in touch with me, you can call the school to leave a message or for a quicker response you can email me at sam7@vigoschools.org.
