Welcome to Mrs Baumunk’s Classroom!

Welcome to first grade! My name is Mrs. Baumunk. This is my 6th year teaching at Sugar Grove. I have lived in Vigo County all of my life and attended Vigo Schools throughout my childhood. I graduated from Indiana State University with my Elementary Education and Early Childhood degrees. I am a fourth generation teacher and I have known I wanted to be a teacher since before I was even school myself.

First Grade Supply List

  • -2 -boxes of 24 crayons
  • -2 -packages of pre-sharpened #2 pencils (no mechanical)
  • -1 -package of twistable colored pencils
  • -1 -box of pre-sharpened colored pencils
  • -1- pair of pointed metal scissors
  • -6 -pack glue sticks
  • -1 -large box of facial tissues
  • -2 –Vinyl/plastic folders with *bottom pockets (Home-to-School daily use)
    2 –Basic folders with *bottom pocket folders- (classroom use)
    (The ones with side pockets do not work well.  No 3-ring binders.)
  • -1 -box of gallon bags
  • -2 -broad-tip yellow highlighters
  • -2 -black dry-erase markers
  • -1 – Plastic school box (that closes securely & will fit in a student desk)
  • -1 – Primary (K-2) Composition notebook for journal writing. (Please- not a spiral notebook.)

Daily Schedule

8:00-8:15 Arrival (Students need to be in the classroom by 8:15)

8:15-8:30: Morning work and preparing for Reading Block

8:30-10:00: Reading Block

10:00-10:30: Language/ Writing

10:30-11:30: Math Block

11:35-12:20: Recess/ Lunch

12:30-1:00: I/E

1:00-1:45: Social Studies/ Science/ Health

1:45-2:25: Specials

2:25-2:35: Prepare to go Home
