Miss Atchley’s Classroom

Hi, my name is Miss Atchley! I am going to be your child’s 3rd grade teacher this year! 

This will be my second year teaching and I am looking forward to working with parents and students to make this a wonderful school year!

Second grade was the school year for me where I first realized what I wanted to be when I was older. I always stuck with it. I would teach my younger brother with my old school books, play school at recess, etc. Since then I have worked hard to fulfill my childhood dream to be a teacher. 

I have lived in Vigo County my whole life and was a student in the VCSC from elementary to high school. I began my teaching experience in Vigo County as a teacher’s assistant at Dixie Bee my junior and senior year of high school. I graduated December 2021 from Indiana State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. After graduating, I became a long-term substitute teacher at Hoosier Prairie. I covered maternity leaves for a teacher in 2nd grade and 5th grade. I have had experience in classrooms at Honey Creek, Dixie Bee, Hoosier Prairie, Ouabache, Ben Franklin, Fuqua, and now DeVaney! After all my experience in classrooms throughout Vigo County, I am delighted to now have my own classroom to build relationships with students and help them blossom over the school year!

Diamond Rule: Keep Your eyes on the target!

• Ear buds or small size headphones (Please open ear buds/headphones and place in a clear zip bag with your child’s name on the bag and ear buds/headphones. Thank you so much!)

• 1 box of 24 crayons

• 1 package of markers

• Scissors

• 2 glue sticks

• 2 large erasers

• 2 composition notebooks (not spiral bound)

• 2 plastic folders with two pockets (red and blue)

• 1 plastic folder of choice with two pockets (This will be your homework folder.)

• 1 school box

• 2 packages of #2 sharpened pencils (Please, no mechanical or decorative pencils)

• 1 highlighter

• 1 package of black dry erase markers

• 2 boxes of tissues
