Hello Families!

Welcome to my Rio Grande website!  I began my teaching career just a few months after graduating from Indiana State University in 1990.  I am married and I have two grown sons and two beautiful grandchildren.  I am looking forward to teaching your child this year in first grade!  If you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.  I am looking forward to a fun and exciting school year with your child!

First Grade Supply List—2025-2026

  • 2 boxes of 24 crayons 
  • 1 pair of scissors (blunt)
  • 2 large boxes of tissues
  • 1 plastic school box (not the large one)
  • 24 (number 2) pencils
  • 2 packs of twistable colored pencils/crayons
  • 6 glue sticks 
  • 2 plastic purple folders with prongs
  • 8 dry erase markers (fine-tip) black

 

We would appreciate, but don’t require these items:  Paper towels, electronic wipes, baby wipes

 

Please no Trapper Keepers, paints, three ring binders or notebooks.  We will provide writing paper. 

  • Donations of zip lock bags are appreciated.
  • Please take your child’s supplies out of the packaging and place his/her name on them with a permanent marker.  You may also want to place your child’s initials on his/her pencils.
  • Listen carefully
  • Follow directions
  • Work quietly. Do not disturb others who are working.
  • Respect others.  Be kind with your words and actions.
  • Respect school and personal property.  (your own & your classmates)
  • Work and play safely.
