Educational Background

My educational journey began in Casey, Illinois where I attended elementary through high school. I continued at Lakeland College in Mattoon, Illinois. I went on to Eastern Illinois University in Charleston and graduated in May of 1986. I graduated in May 2012 from St. Mary of the Woods with my Master’s degree. I have continued my education by attending workshops and learning new things including fly fishing and knitting.

Professional Background

In the fall of 1986, I started subbing at different schools in my area. On March 3, 1987, I was hired to teach art at St. Mary’s School in Paris, Illinois. During the next nineteen and a half years, I taught art, kindergarten, second, third, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth grade and I was the librarian for seven years. Besides teaching, I was also in charge of the yearbook, Fishing Club, Sewing Club, and the Gardening Club. I left there in June 2016.  In August 2016, I began teaching 7th-grade science at Woodrow Wilson Middle School and love it.

Personal Background

My husband and I live on a farm in rural Clark County, Illinois. We raise cattle, sheep, and crops. We are lucky to have our two children living close by with their families. Our daughter and her husband have two beautiful little girls. Our son and his wife have two beautiful daughters and a handsome son. Besides enjoying my grandchildren, I enjoy gardening, reading, trout fishing, and knitting.
