Mr. Timothy Jessell<\/strong><\/h5>\n
Class of 1983<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Teacher 1971-2002<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Daniel graduated from Cathedral Latin School in Cleveland in 1962.\u00a0 He has taught history for 36 years in the public schools & at VU in 1999.\u00a0 He coached wrestling for over 20 years & founded the wrestling program at RHIT.\u00a0 For 10 years, Dan was a referee for free-style wrestling in Indiana & published an article on wrestling in the U.S. National Federation magazine in 2001.\u00a0 His list of awards & accomplishments includes:\u00a0 Golden Apple Award (1997), 5 time Umpire of the Year in W. Mr. Daniel Tanoos<\/strong><\/h5>\n
Class of 1975<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Mr. Cam Cameron<\/strong><\/h5>\n
Class of 1979<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Cam graduated from THSV in 1979 after a brilliant high school career in athletics.\u00a0 A high school All-American as a quarterback, Cam was a member of 3 South basketball teams that reached the coveted Final Four 3 successive seasons.\u00a0 After the 1979 state championship game, Cam was awarded the prestigious Indiana High School Arthur J. Trester Award.\u00a0 He concluded his high school career winning his second consecutive McMillan Award as Vigo County’s top male high school athlete.\u00a0 Cam attended IU playing both football and basketball and spent 10 years as an assistant football coach at the U of Michigan.\u00a0 After leaving Michigan, Cam joined the staff of the Washington Redskins and in 1997 was named head football coach at IU.\u00a0 He joined the San Diego Chargers as Offensive Coordinator in the summer of 2002.<\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” column_element_spacing=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1\/3″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]\n

Dr. Ronald Chaney<\/strong><\/h5>\n
Class of 1981<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Ronald was Valedictorian of THSV Class of 1981.\u00a0 He attended MIT, completing a bachelor and masters degree simultaneously.\u00a0 Ronald began his professional career with Raytheon, but returned to MIT to pursue a PhD where he was elected as a full member of Sigma Xi Honor Society for excellence in research.\u00a0 In 1996, Ronald joined Alphtech as a senior research engineer where he was the lead technical architect for the Department of Defense project aimed at revolutionizing information fusion systems.\u00a0 In 2000, Ronald was hired by Akamai Technologies where he is currently a Senior Systems Engineer.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” column_element_spacing=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1\/3″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]\n

Mr. William Youman<\/strong><\/h5>\n
Teacher 1971-2003<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Principal 1971-1980<\/strong><\/h5>\n

E.V. Jill B. Jose discovered his passion for acting while majoring in business at Indiana University.\u00a0 After graduating, he headed to new York to further his theatrical training at the prestigious Atlantic Theater Company and Barrow Groups Schools.\u00a0 In New York, he performed in off-Broadway plays, appeared on the “Guiding Light”, “As the World Turns”, and “One Life to Live” and then secured an appearance on “Law & Order: Criminal Intent”.\u00a0 Jose has also guest-starred on “Nip\/Tuck”, “ER”, “Crossing Jordon”, “Bones”, “CSI: Miami” and presently stars in the Fox series “Standoff”.\u00a0 Joes’s first film was “Shackles”, starring opposite D. Ann was Valedictorian of the South Class of 1976.\u00a0 After graduation from Terre Haute South, she received a bachelor’s degree in medical technology from Indiana State University.\u00a0 Ann served as a medical technologist at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC.\u00a0 She was awarded her doctorate from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1991, in the fields of microbiology and immunology.\u00a0 Ann now serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the F. Teacher and Coach 1980-2004<\/h5>\n

Courtney is a National Environmental Manager of Skanska USA Building and considered one of the nation’s leading experts in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).\u00a0 She has worked to craft an environmental management system on the $1 billion renovation of the United Nations in New York City and helped initiate a Zero Waste initiative program in Durham, North Carolina.\u00a0 Courtney is currently working to design a program management system for the first green McDonald’s restaurant.\u00a0 \u00a0Courtney has garnered a variety of awards for her work. Mr. Carter Pilcher<\/h5>\n
Class of 1978<\/h5>\n

Carter Pilcher attended the U.S. Airforce Academy and was stationed at the American Aerospace Command and at the Pentagon.\u00a0 Resigning from the Air Force in 1988, Pilcher joined the staff of then-U.S. Sen. Hank Brown (R-Colo.) and later worked as the legislative director for Sen. Bill Armstrong.\u00a0 While working for Brown, Pilcher was an architect of the NATO Participation Act, which brought Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia into NATO.\u00a0 He was awarded Poland\u2019s highest defense medal.\u00a0\u00a0Pilcher earned a law degree from Georgetown University and accepted a position in London with Bankers Trust, eventually becoming a part of the Deutsche Bank. He left banking and today is president of SHORTS International, which makes short films. Pilcher is a member of the Academy of Motion Pictures and serves on the committee which selects nominees for the Academy Awards. Mr. Kris Verdeyen<\/h5>\n
Class of 1996<\/h5>\n

Rev. Owens graduated from South Vigo High School in 1978, and was one of the class Valedictorians.\u00a0 \u00a0She graduated from Harvard University and had a 20 + year career as an Information Technology Executive with such firms as Cummins Engine Co., IBM, Ernst & Young, and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield (now Wellpoint).\u00a0 She earned a Master of Divinity degree from the University of Chicago Divinity School and was ordained in the Christian Church.\u00a0 \u00a0In August 2005, Owens was appointed Dean of Students at the University at Chicago Divinity School.\u00a0 She also serves as senior minister of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Downers Grove, Ill.\u00a0 She is an active leader in the denomination.\u00a0 Owens also serves on the board of the Christian Theological seminary in Indianapolis and the advisory board for the Center for the Study of Black Faith and Life at the Chicago Theological Seminary in Chicago.\u00a0 She resides in Calumet City, IL, with her husband, Rev. After graduation, Bethany moved to New York City to begin her professional career as a performing artist.\u00a0 Her acting\u00a0 credits include\u00a0 Song & Dance<\/em>, West Side Story<\/em>,\u00a0Annie<\/em>, Smokey Joe’s Caf\u00e9, King David,<\/em> &\u00a0The Taffettas<\/em>.\u00a0 She performed as an Indiana Pacemate & as a Lead Vocalist on Princess, Cunard & Carnival Cruise Lines.\u00a0 In addition, she has choreographed for numerous professional theaters, universities, theme parks, & special events.\u00a0 Smith is a proud member of Dance Educators of America. Ms. Lesley Wisley Padien<\/h5>\n
Class of 1998<\/h5>\n

Class of 1998 graduate Lesley Ann Wisley Padien landed her first job at NASA as a technical designer working in the shuttle program at the Kennedy Space Center.\u00a0 After completing her MFA in Animation from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2006, she moved to Los Angeles.\u00a0 Lesley has worked with many studios in television, feature, and commercial entertainment including the Jim Henson Company, Walt Disney’s Cinderbiter, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Shadow Animation, Lucasfilm, Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, and Starburns Industries.\u00a0 Her screen credits include Cartoon Network Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken, Robot Chicken Star Wars, Moral Orel, Titian Maximum, Frankenhole, College Humor’s Dinosaur Office, and NBC’s “My Name is Earl”.\u00a0 Upcoming projects still\u00a0 in production include the features Tibetan Rock\u00a0 Dog and Henry Selick’s “The Shadow King”.\u00a0 Padien is also an animation professor at the Art Institute of California and California College of the Arts where she teaches animation.<\/p>\n

Christopher Kyle resides today with his wife, Karen and two children in Rockland County, New York.\u00a0 He has written a number of off-Broadway plays, including \u201cThe Monogamist,\u201d \u201cThe Safety Net,\u201d \u201cThe Wilderness\u201d and \u201cRachel.\u201d He was named a Guggenheim Fellow in play writing and has received commissions from Dreamworks and the Alfred Sloan Foundation.\u00a0 Kyle\u2019s film credits include Oliver Stone\u2019s \u201cAlexander,\u201d \u201cThe Widowmaker\u201d featuring Harrison Ford and Liam Neeson, and \u201cThe Weight of Water,\u201d starring Sean Penn. David Yates is an electrical engineer residing in West Chester, Ohio.\u00a0 A Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology graduate who has traveled extensively throughout the world on projects and has been awarded 72 patents (and counting).\u00a0 His goal is to reach 100.\u00a0 He works with six different companies in the areas of medical device and research development, product design and field engineering.\u00a0 Yates\u2019 work includes product development in mammography and catheter research. \u00a0 He also has done extensive research in electrosurgery.\u00a0 Yates and his wife, Jan are the parents of two sons.<\/p>\n

Dr.\u00a0 Williams is currently Chief of the Division of Hematology\/Oncology and Director of Clinical and Traditional Research at Boston Children\u2019s Hospital.\u00a0 A former director of the Herman B. Captain Mills, United States Navy is currently the military assistant to the Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Information Operations at the Pentagon.\u00a0 After serving his initial fleet tour with the Navy\u2019s Elite Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron, Mills became an instructor in weapons and tactics. Ms. Mika Brown<\/h5>\n
Class of 2005<\/h5>\n

Mr. Dave Heath<\/h5>\n
Teacher 1989-2014, Assistant Athletic Director<\/h5>\n

After a successful career in radio and television, Heath changed career paths at the age of 38 returning to ISU to become a history teacher for the next 24 years.\u00a0 Mr. Heath served in the National Guard for 23 years.\u00a0 Senator Richard Lugar recognized him for documenting stories of Hoosier Veterans, which is housed in the Library of Congress.\u00a0 After retirement, he has served South Vigo as the Assistant Athletic Director and as a valued volunteer for a number of events.\u00a0 Dave serves on several committees not only for South,\u00a0 but also numerous community organization including Terre Haute Kiwanis Club and the TH Area Clean Community.\u00a0 He has also served on the TH Redevelopment Commission for 23 years, and was president for 17 years.\u00a0 He is an active church member.\u00a0 Dave lives in Terre Haute with his wife, Angie who also served as a teacher for 40 years in Vigo County.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner column_padding=”no-extra-padding” column_padding_tablet=”inherit” column_padding_phone=”inherit” column_padding_position=”all” column_element_spacing=”default” background_color_opacity=”1″ background_hover_color_opacity=”1″ column_shadow=”none” column_border_radius=”none” column_link_target=”_self” gradient_direction=”left_to_right” overlay_strength=”0.3″ width=”1\/3″ tablet_width_inherit=”default” bg_image_animation=”none” border_type=”simple” column_border_width=”none” column_border_style=”solid”][vc_column_text]\n

Mr. Evan Austin<\/h5>\n
Class of 2011<\/h5>\n

Colonel Allen Boyd (Ret)<\/h5>\n
Class of 1972<\/h5>\n

Dr. Andrew J. Williams, MD<\/strong><\/h5>\n
Class of 2000<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Andrew J. Williams, MD, was a member of the Terre Haute South Class of 2000. Dr. Williams attended Indiana State University, where he was awarded a Hines Memorial Medal for highest academic achievement, and the Indiana University School of Medicine. In addition to a practice in cardiology, Dr. Williams serves as a member of the teaching faculty at the St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis with special focus in cardiovascular imaging as well as nuclear cardiology. He was the recipient of a cardiology fellowship and in 2017 received the Cardiology Teacher of the year award. Marcus Lorick was a member of the South High School Class of 2001. After graduating from South High School, Marcus attended Eastern Illinois University on a full football scholarship. He currently serves as Division Manager for Alcon Surgical of Fort Worth, Texas, a leader in surgical eye care. Lorick was a founding member of Alcon\u2019s first surgical academic team which focuses on helping develop ophthalmic eye surgeons. He currently leads a team developing new technologies in the treatment of glaucoma. Anne Newton McFadden graduated in 1996 and earned a President\u2019s Scholarship to Indiana State University. She attended the Georgetown University Law Center. Following graduation from law school, she was hired as a law clerk in the United States Court of Federal Claims. She also worked for 11 years as an attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice Antitrust Division. Since 2018, she has served as Assistant Dean of Student Services and Dean of Students for the Indiana University Maurer School of Law in Bloomington. After graduating from South Vigo, Kevin LaFrance obtained a B.S. Michelle Utley-Wainwright obtained a BS degree from Indiana University in Public Affairs.\u00a0 Shew worked in the pharmaceutical\/health care while obtaining an MBA from Indiana University.\u00a0 After 14 years in pharmaceutical sales, her entrepreneurial spirit led her to a new effort as she abandoned her career to open the Cute as a Cupcake! Col David Cooper was a member of the class of 1995.\u00a0 After graduation, he graduated from IU in 2000 and obtained his master\u2019s from Webster University in He spent 22 years in the United States Air Force and Air National Guard working primarily as an intelligence officer.\u00a0 His overseas tours of duty included stops in Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.\u00a0 He also was assigned duties at Baer field in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and the Pentagon where he served on the Joint Chiefs of Staff for national security matters.\u00a0 Among Col Cooper\u2019s awards are the Air Force Commendation Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service medal, and the NATO medal.\u00a0 Col. Mr. Rodney W. Smith is a 1982 graduate of South High School.\u00a0 After graduation\u00a0he attended ISU and then Butler University to obtain his principal\u2019s license.\u00a0 After working in music and percussion with several schools while still a student at Indiana State University, his first professional stop was at Center Grove High School where he was instrumental in the band winning the Bands of America\u00a0Grand Nationals. He is a founding member of the Indiana Percussion Association.\u00a0\u00a0He served as Assistant Principal and Associate Principal at Ben Davis High School before moving to the Indianapolis Public Schools. Active in public education, Mr.\u00a0Smith is currently Director of Post Secondary Planning with the Indianapolis Public Schools. Mr. Tony Tanoos graduated from South High in 1974.\u00a0 He attended the Indiana University School of Law and has served with the law firm of Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos and Newlin and has built one of most successful Social Security Disability law practices in the United States.\u00a0 Along the way Mr. Tanoos has been\u00a0recognized for his many efforts within his community.\u00a0 He has been a counselor\u00a0and friend to many of the youth of the Terre Haute, is a lay leader in the St.\u00a0George Orthodox Church, and has supported many organizations\u00a0philanthropically.\u00a0 His love for the Terre Haute community and Terre Haute South\u00a0High School is well-known to many.
