Greetings from the School Counselor!<\/p>\n

My name is Sarah Pesavento and I have been happily employed within the Vigo County School Corporation for the past 21 years.\u00a0\u00a0This is my eleventh year at Riley Elementary and I’m so thankful to be here!\u00a0 Our learning community radiates positive energy and a great respect for all individuals.\u00a0\u00a0How lucky we are to be learning together under such encouraging guidance.\u00a0\u00a0It is my hope that this school year will be filled with positive and successful experiences for all students.<\/p>\n

I attended the University of Evansville and received my Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Commercial Art. This creative field served me well for many, many years and I thoroughly enjoyed that season.\u00a0\u00a0However, seasons change and I wished to be with those that were planting the seeds of learning in my two children, Lily and Max.\u00a0\u00a0As my career path changed and I yearned to work with students, I accepted an educational assistant position.\u00a0\u00a0As my passion for working with students grew, I longed to become a bigger advocate for the well-being of our youth.\u00a0\u00a0Therefore, I returned to the classroom and earned my Master\u2019s Degree in Education so that I could serve our young population as a school counselor.\u00a0\u00a0Another passion of mine is baking goodies, and I have even entertained the idea of opening up a bakery!\u00a0\u00a0Baking and gardening bring me joy, and I am often found in my kitchen or outside.\u00a0 I have two children – Lily and Max.\u00a0 Lily works for the Center for Performing Arts in Carmel, Indiana.\u00a0 Max is employed with Indiana State University as a graphic artist in the marketing department.\u00a0 He also enjoys time with his bandmates!<\/p>\n

My counseling services include individual sessions, small group services, and classroom guidance.\u00a0\u00a0My goal is to promote personal and social growth so that all students can rise to their fullest academic potential.\u00a0 We will be honing our skills in self and social awareness, self-management, relationships, and decision making.\u00a0 In addition to these program topics, I will address bully prevention, child safety, tolerance, making safe\/healthy choices, and career opportunities.<\/p>\n
