Hello, My name is Kara Howard. This is my 11th year teaching 1st Grade at Riley Elementary! I am very excited to start a new school year here at Riley! I have been employed by the Vigo County School Corporation since 2002. I taught at Farrington Grove for 10 years. At Farrington Grove, I taught 1st grade, 2nd grade, and Title 1/Reading Recovery. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, and a Master’s degree in Special Education. I received both from Indiana State University. I have 3 wonderful boys named Noah, Eli, and Karson. Noah will be a Sophomore at Rose Hulman this year. Eli will be a Senior at South, and Karson will be a 6th grader at Honey Creek. I enjoy running, and have participated in many half marathons. I also enjoy reading, and watching my boys play in the marching band and play football. My goal each year is to make sure that each child in my classroom is working up to their fullest potential. I know that children are all different. I provide daily small group activities in which each child in my classroom has the opportunity to work at their level.
