Meet Ms. Lawson
My name is Allison Lawson. I have been teaching music in Vigo County since 2004. I am originally from Albion Indiana and moved to Terre Haute to study music at Indiana State University. I have called Terre Haute home since 1997. I graduated from Indiana State in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education. I have a level one certification in Orff Schulwerk from Anderson University and recently completed courses in First Steps in Music and Conversational Solfege. In music class, the students work on being tuneful, beatful, and artful musicians. My goal is to have my students one day bring what they have learned in my class to adulthood. I hope that they will sing lullabies to their children, dance at weddings, and attend and support live music in their communities.
On a personal level I have four children. My boys are identical triplets. Ian, Marc, and Christopher graduated high school in 2020 and now are attending college and working. My daughter Shira, is thirteen years younger than her brothers. She keeps them on their toes and loves being in school. We also have a cat named Bella and a beagle named Cooper. I love to cook for my family and have everyone together under one roof. I also enjoy fishing, and spending time with my fiance Jason.
