March 2024

Tuesday, February 20 – Friday, March 5 Fuqua PTO will host two fundraisers.  They will be selling “Butter Braids” and trash bags.   Watch for information to be posted on their Facebook page and information has been sent home.

Friday, March 1 Spirit Day – Dr. Seuss Day! Dress like your favorite Dr. Seuss character.

Monday, March 4Title I Teachers will host Reading Counts Night from 5:00-6:00.  Join us in the Media Center!

Monday, March 4 – Friday, March 8 ALL Third Grade students and ALL Second Grade students will participate in the IREAD3 test. This is an important test that could determine a student’s placement for next year.  Please ensure they have plenty of rest.  Additional information will come home to parents.

Wednesday, March 6 Arts and Academics Night.  Please join us from 6-7:00pm to tour the building and see all the projects that students have created.

Thursday, March 7 – Sarah Scott Middle School staff will visit our Fifth Grade students and provide some orientation for their upcoming big move!

Friday, March 8End of Third Grading Period.

    • Early Dismissal – Students will be dismissed at 1:45.
  • Spirit Day – ISU Blue Day!  Support our Sycamores!

Tuesday, March 12 Fuqua students and staff will participate in the Statewide Tornado Drill.

Wednesday, March 13 Fuqua PTO will host their March PTO Meeting at 5:30 in the cafeteria.  Please join us!

Thursday, March 14 – Spring Pictures!  Information has already been sent home with order forms.

Friday, March 15 Spirit Day – Wearin’ O’ the Green Day!

  • Terre Haute Children’s Museum staff will be at Fuqua to do a presentation on the eclipse.
  • PTO will host a Luau Dance 5:30 -7:00pm.  Watch for details to be sent home and posted on our Fuqua PTO Facebook page.

Saturday, March 16 Fuqua Fifth Grade will be hosting a pancake breakfast at Longhorn Steakhouse, 8:30–10:30 am.   Tickets are only $5 and can be purchased from school or at the door that morning.  The money raised will go towards their Fifth Grade field trip.

Monday, March 18Report cards will be sent home.  

Thursday, March 21We will host our BUG Club Awards to honor recipients for the third grading period.

  •  Spirit Day – National Down Syndrome Day!  Wear your blue and yellow in support of this special day.

Friday, March 22Spirit Day – Fuqua Purple and Gold Day!

  • We will have our March Birthday Parade!

Saturday, March 23 – Friday, March 29 Spring Break!  We will see students back on Monday, April 1st.

The character trait for February was “Perseverance” – The act or power of continuing to do something in spite of difficulties.   Representing Fuqua at the Mayor’s Character Award ceremony will be Mariana Stokes from Mrs. West’s class.

  • Please contact our office if you are interested in registering a younger sibling for our Pre-Kindergarten next Fall.  The student must be 4 years of age by August 1, 2024.  Call for more details (812) 462-4304.
  • The IDOE has several short videos to share with parents and educators about assessment systems, including ILEARN and IREAD3.  In these videos you can see how Indiana is building a system of assessments and how they are integrating technology with assessment.  Please check out the IDOE website at:  INassessments@doe.in.gov

IT IS VITAL THAT YOU MAKE THE FRONT OFFICE AWARE OF ANY CHANGES AS THEY OCCUR. THIS INCLUDES NEW ADDRESSES AND PHONE NUMBERS.

  • A test of high ability potential will be administered to all First Grade students through a digital platform in February and March.  The self-contained elementary high ability program will continue at Dixie Bee Elementary School and Lost Creek Elementary School in grades two through five.
