I have been teaching music in Vigo County since I graduated college in 2001. I believe that a good music education is important for students and I wanted to be the beginning of that education. If students do not like music in the early years of their life, chances are they will never find the joy in music. In my classroom, I teach using the following activities: singing, playing instruments, moving, games, listening and composing. Along with the music standards, I also include language arts and math standards in music lessons. With the students learning and having fun, I have realized why I became a teacher.
